Trustees

Solace Women’s Aid is a London based charity working primarily with women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence. The organisation has grown significantly over the last few years and we are keen to recruit 3 talented members to join our active and committed Board of Trustees.

We are seeking candidates with a wide range of experience. More specifically, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate strategic leadership within the charitable sector, safeguarding experience, and/or clinical expertise. We particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic groups.

Successful candidates will be required to attend 4 board meetings and two away days each year as well as participate on a board sub-committee. Trustees can claim reasonable out-of-pocket and travel expenses but are not otherwise remunerated.

Executive Assistant

Solace Women’s Aid is one of London’s largest women’s charities working to end domestic and sexual violence. As the organisation continues to grow, we are looking to recruit a committed and proactive Executive Assistant to provide support for our Board of Trustees, CEO and Director of Operations.

The role will involve coordinating the governance function of Solace, ensuring the efficient servicing of the Board and sub-committees. The successful candidate will provide administrative support for the CEO and Director of Operations as well as coordinate Solace’s internal meeting cycle.

It is an exciting time to join Solace and this role will suit someone who is highly organised, with strong interpersonal skills and able to work on their own initiative. Excellent attentional to detail is essential for this post and the successful candidate will have previous experience of providing governance administration.

Paralegal

Solace Women’s Aid requires a paralegal to work in their small busy Category 1 franchised family legal team. We specialise in domestic abuse and children act applications but also undertake all other areas of family law.

The candidate must be:

  • Educated to degree/LPC level and have a knowledge and understanding of family law.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Organised and able to prioritise work.
  • Ability to accurately record information using a case management system.
  • Provide administrative support to the legal team.
  • Good IT skills.
  • To interview clients, conduct research, advise and negotiate on behalf of clients and prepare court documents.
  • Minimum 6 months legal aid experience.
  • Advocacy skills essential.
  • Confident, enthusiastic and flexible.
  • Work well within a team.

Location: London

Hours: Full time

Salary: £16,500 per annum

Solace Refuge Services – LB Islington

Team Leader

Solace Women’s Aid works with women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence.  We work in a holistic and empowering way enabling service users to live independent lives.

You will be responsible for leading a staff team of approximately eight individuals across two refuges.

We are looking to appoint someone with extensive experience of working with vulnerable people, some of which will have been with women affected by domestic and/or sexual violence. The person we are looking for will also have experience of refuge provision, operational experience of need and risk assessment tools and the ability to provide leadership and direction.

Hours: (37.5 hours per week)

Salary: £30,345 pa plus 3% pension contribution and other benefits

Contract:  Permanent
