Advice Caseworker (Female*)

Fix Term contract – End of March 2015  (With possible extension)

We are looking for an experienced domestic and sexual violence advice case worker to join our highly motivated and committed team.

You will support women who have experienced domestic and sexual violence through our Advice Service Telephone Line. You will provide advice, options and information and make supported referrals to other relevant agencies. You will also carry out some face to face work, deliver domestic violence workshops to women, and provide evening cover on the advice line on the rota basis with other staff.

You should have experience of carrying out risk assessments and safety planning. You should also have direct experience of working with women and girls who have been affected by domestic and/or sexual violence or any other form of abuse and have an in depth understanding of violence against women and girls.

SALARY: £25,515

HOURS: 37.50 Hours per week

Sessional Children’s Playworker

Barnet refuge and floating support (all sites)

Solace Women’s Aid is dedicated to providing a full range of services for women and their children, enabling them to live lives free from domestic violence.

 We are looking for a Sessional Children’s Playworker to work in Barnet.

  • To deliver when needed a sessional programme of activity and play including,  baby groups ,toddler groups, after school, and holiday outings  in accordance with the needs of children in the refuge between the ages of 0 -16yrs.
  • To maintain a safe, creative and stimulating environment for children’s activities and play where every child feels welcome and is considered important.
  • To ensure health and safety and child protection issues are raised with Family Support Worker.

All the families in our refuges have experienced trauma and loss due to domestic violence and have been forced to leave their homes. You will have a good understanding of the impact of trauma and loss on children of different ages and experience of working with children and their mother’s/carer’s in a multi racial setting.

NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is desirable to this post.

 Salary: £10 per hour

Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA)

 Southwark

We are SASS, a high quality advocacy and support service for Southwark residents, who are affected by domestic abuse.

The service is part of Solace Women’s Aid, a London-wide and nationally well regarded organisation.

As an IDVA, you will provide a package of support covering crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, assessment of needs and individual support planning.

A key aspect of the role will be to advocate on behalf of service users pursuing remedies through the criminal and civil justice systems.

You will work specifically with high risk clients whose cases are referred to the MARAC.

To be part of our busy and exciting team, we would like you to have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence and strong casework and time management skills.

If you have experience of working with victims of domestic and/or sexual violence and a working knowledge of the criminal and civil justice systems this is a unique opportunity to develop further your skills and career.

We would prefer you to have CAADA’s IDVA qualification, but if not, we will support you to be trained to acquire the qualification.

Salary: £27,009 per annum

We are looking for self-employed counsellors to deliver short term counselling over 15 sessions for women and girl survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Work is available in East and North London including Greenwich, Newham and Havering.
