North London Rape Crisis
We are very pleased to announce the development of a new service for women in north London affected by sexual violence.
North London Rape Crisis will provide a range of services to women over the age of 14 who have experienced any form of sexual violence, including rape, childhood sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, sexual harassment, and female genital mutilation.
We will accept both self-referrals and referrals from voluntary and statutory services
Services will include:
Individual Counselling
-Counselling aims to provide a safe space for women to talk about their experiences and create a life free from violence and abuse.
-Counselling will take place individually on a weekly basis with one of the team of specialist, trained counsellors, who are all experienced in wokring with sexual violence and trauma.
- Counsellors will work across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.
Advocacy
Advocates will provide a range of services for women and children, whether or not they choose to report the abuse to the police, including:
- Crisis intervention and pro-active follow-up
- Referrals to specialist external services, such as counselling and body therapies.
-Advocacy support with housing, welfare benefits, immigration, and other issues.
- Information about, and support through, the police and court processes.
- Needs and risk assessments.
-Safety planning
-Advocates will work across Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminter.
Group-based support
- Groups will be facilitated by counsellors, and will be open to women who do not wish to access individual counselling, or who are waiting for a counselling appointment.
- Groups will include confidence-building groups and therapeutic support groups.
Body therapy
- Body therapies will be provided by volunteer therapists in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.
-Therapies will include head massage, reflexology, shiatsu, yoga and relaxation techniques, aromatherapy, self defence and other therapies where available.

The Administrator will be able to make an appointment for you with a counsellor or advocate, or pass you call on to someone in the team if you would like to discuss your options.
