Action for Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL) was set up in 2006 to reduce the poverty of local refugees and asylum-seekers, advance their education and raise awareness about refugees rights and needs.
Services include advice in welfare benefits, housing, education, employment, health and immigration, a supplementary Saturday School for children aged 4-11 and a foodbank for destitute asylum-seekers and refugees.

Al-Hasaniya Moroccan Women’s Centre serves the health, welfare, educational and cultural needs of Moroccan and Arabic-speaking women and their families resident in London. Domestic and sexual abuse support is for Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea.
Albert Kennedy Trust supports LGBTQ+ young people aged 16 - 25 facing housing difficulties. They help LGBTQ+ young people find safe homes and can support with things like employment, education and training, in an environment that celebrates LGBTQ+ identities.
Asian Women's Resource Centre is a voluntary sector grassroots organisation, based in Harlesden, which provides support for women who are, or have been experiencing domestic abuse. The AWRC offers safety planning, advice and information, advocacy and support services to survivors. Their service ensures cultural sensitivity, confidentiality and listening time in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
AWRC also run support groups, community engagement activities, and workshops on rights and entitlements.
Cambridge Hpuse have a safer renting programme designed to protect tenants who are victimised by criminal landlords by providing specialist advice, advocacy and support.
Safer Renting’s are to:
Prevent homelessness, particularly by intervening in illegal evictions.
Support private renters to negotiate better conditions in their homes.
Enable private renters to leave a criminal landlord on their own terms, with compensation whenever possible.
Inform government policy and best practice by analysing and communicating how criminal landlords are exploiting the London housing crisis at the expense of tenants.
Camden Federation of Private Tenants (CFPT) is funded by the local authority to provide a voice for private tenants in the London Borough of Camden. Run by and for private tenants, we were set up in 1980 as a mutual support group to help this group of residents come together to organise and campaign for their rights and improve their housing conditions.
Community Action for Refugees and Asylum Seekers (CARAS) is a community outreach charity that offers support and advice to people of refugee background.
They have a range of group activities that support people of all ages to develop their English skills (classes for women and young people), access services and opportunities, build supportive social networks and to feel welcomed. We run women’s groups, advice sessions and youth activities.
Consonant offers immigration legal services and helps people acquire the skills and knowledge needed so they can build successful lives in the UK, like English and computer skills.
They help people improve their job prospects, find work and get more involved in the communities and decisions that affect them.
