We are proud to be chosen by newly elected Mayor of Camden, Councillor Maryam Eslamdoust, as her Charity of the Year.
Mary Mason, CEO, says “We are absolutely delighted to be the Mayor’s charity for 2019-2020, as Camden is one of the boroughs where Solace first began supporting women over 40 years ago;it is a place which is very dear to my heart and part of our DNA.”
Cllr Eslamdoust said it was important to "stamp out domestic abuse and the most horrific effects of misogyny." She also urges people to "never turn away" if they suspect somebody is a victim of domestic abuse.
We will being working with Mayor Eslamdoust raising life-saving funds for the women and children in Camden.
“Last year, 139 women and children lived in our Camden refuges giving them somewhere safe to stay when they had nowhere else to turn. We supported 377 women and children to rebuild their lives; through therapy, group work, advocacy and emotional support.”
We will be working together to build partnerships across the borough to ensure that women and children know that we can help them in a way they need and in the language they speak. Every woman and child should live free from abuse, and we will work with the Mayor to ensure every person in Camden can access the support.
Thank you to Mayor Eslamdoust for choosing us and keep an eye out for all our work together this year.
