About the Service
Waltham Forest Advocacy & Support Services (SASS) provide free and confidential support to survivors of abuse within the community. The teams are made up of professional staff offering short to medium term support to women and men affected by domestic and sexual violence in the community. Our teams offer information, advocacy and specialist services to increase safety and meet a range of needs – these can include on-going safety concerns, emotional or housing support, legal options, reporting to the police, help around child contact, benefits and financial advice. As part of the support we also ensure survivors are able to access therapeutic support via the Waltham Forest Therapeutic Marketplace.
About the Role
We are looking to recruit a Caseworker to provide specialist advice and support to survivors of domestic abuse. This will involve carrying out risk and needs assessments, safety planning, and individual support planning with survivors as well as advocating on their behalf with external agencies.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence. You will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures, as well as a working knowledge of available legal remedies, housing and welfare benefits. You will be able to manage a busy caseload, with excellent administrative skills and the ability to assess and identify needs, risks and appropriate safety planning.
