Solace Women’s Aid is excited to announce the opportunity for three brilliant women to join our Board of Trustees.
You could help to shape our future and ensure that we continue to deliver our vital work for women and children across London, who are experiencing domestic abuse and sexual violence.

It’s not just about strategy, governance and finance, though these are important. It’s about bringing a wealth of different voices, skills and experiences to the table, and harnessing your energy, creativity and commitment to make a real difference.
We think this could be you. We strive to continuously improve, innovate and work towards ending violence against all women and girls, and to do this we need your help.

We particularly welcome applications from BME women who are currently under-represented on the Board of Trustees.
Our Board of Trustees is particularly interested in building expertise around Finance, IT and Digital, Service Delivery, and Income Generation. Applicants with a background in these areas are encouraged to apply.

This is a voluntary position but expenses are reimbursed. You will be required for a minimum of 8 meetings and two away days per year.

We aim to ensure that the environment for all of our volunteers at Solace is as safe as possible. Therefore, due to the nature of some discussions and work that trustees may be asked to contribute to, we ask that those applicants who have used Violence Against Women and Girls Services, have not accessed services for at least two years.

In order to give you the opportunity to find out more about the role, the work of the organisation and what the trustees do to support this, we are hosting an informal information evening on 24th June.

You will have the opportunity to meet some of our staff and existing trustees, whilst enjoying cheese, wine, non-alcoholic drinks and vegan snacks. The evening will run between 6.30pm and 8pm. If you would like to reserve your place, please RSVP here. Do let us know if you have access requirements and/or need a crèche for the evening. Please note that in order to register for the crèche service, you will need to let us know by 17th June.

If you have any further questions about the evening, or the role itself, please email [email protected]

COMMITMENT:  8 meetings and two away days per year. Three year term, with a maximum of two terms.
CLOSING DATE: 12pm (noon) Monday 8th July
INTERVIEW DATE: Week commencing 15th July

To find out more about the role please take a look at the recruitment pack.

Please ensure you send the correct documents by the closing date, as late applications will not be accepted.
Due to the number of applications we receive, Solace Women’s Aid cannot communicate further with applicants who are not shortlisted for interview. If you do not hear from us within two weeks of the closing date, please assume that your application was not successful this time.

Solace Women’s Aid values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applicants from black minority and ethnic communities.
Solace is a Disability Confident employer. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] if you require any additional support to apply for this role.
