EDI

At Solace we are committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), and view them as the core pillars which underpin our mission, vision and values. We are continually reviewing and improving our EDI approach to find new ways in which we can transform our recruitment and progression pathways to make them fairer and enable talented staff to excel and progress internally. We believe in a world where every voice is heard, every perspective valued, and every individual empowered to thrive. From our leadership team to our volunteers, we embed EDI principles into every element of our work, working tirelessly to achieve fairness, respect, and opportunity for all. We provide additional developmental opportunities for colleagues with protected characteristics to ensure parity across the board and we regularly scrutinise policies and procedures to ensure they work fairly for all our staff. We stand committed to creating a society where diversity isn’t just tolerated but celebrated as our greatest strength.

We have forums for the LGBTQIA+ community, people of colour, active allies, and people with diverse abilities (visible and invisible disabilities). We consult community members on relevant changes to internal ways working and offer opportunities to play a part in organisation-wide projects. We offer comprehensive training (including EDI courses) to all staff as well as specialist mentoring opportunities for people of colour and a future leaders development program for people from global majorities who aspire to progress into management. Alongside this the organisation hosts an annual Inclusion Award Ceremony which give colleagues the chance to celebrate upstanders who practice effective allyship when it matters.

Our Head of EDI, Vicki, explains how our charity delivers on our commitment “We weave EDI throughout the heart of everything we do and equity is discussed at all levels of the organisation. This ensures that every aspect of our organisation reflects our commitment to creating a more just and inclusive society.”
