Solace in Barnet (SASS)

Advocacy 

Barnet SASS provides practical and emotional support to anyone aged 16+ who resides in the Borough of Barnet and experiencing domestic abuse, honour based violence and forced marriage. 

  • Consent based service the only exception is if the client was referred to service through the MARAC. Barnet SASS is a core Domestic Violence service in the Borough; we are also offering support to the survivors who have been referred to MARAC.
  • We are working with all genders.
  • We are working with all levels of risk usually up to 3 months.

Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs) are co-located at different partner agency services;

  • Colindale police station (3day per week)
  • MH Service (4 days per week)
  • and Adult/Children’s MASH (4 days per week).  
  • We also have a young person’s IDVA supporting survivors between the ages of 16 – 25.
  • We also have an early help IDVA co-located one day each week.

We have various groups running within the Barnet Service throughout the year. Please see list below and see leaflets attached;

  • We are delivering various groups within Barnet, such as the ARISE Course four times a year, Picking up the Pieces group (educational group for parents). Alongside this we also have a trauma informed yoga group and we offer six sessions to any survivors of VAWG in Barnet.

One-Stop-Shop

  • We are also one of the lead DV agency for the One-Stop Shop which is an advice surgery provided by some agencies including,  housing, anti-social behaviour officer from the Barnet Homes, family solicitors, and cybercare. The One-Stop Shop runs every Thursday between 9.30am and 12.30pm at 2 Bristol Avenue, Collindale, London NW9 4EW.

IRIS

IRIS Advocate accept all referrals from GPs in Barnet, providing longer-term support up to six months. We work with standard to medium risk survivors of domestic abuse.

Alongside frontline support, IRIS advocates provide admin and reception, clinical 1 and 2 to all GP practices within Barnet, to ensure that Health Professionals are able to spot the signs of abuse and know where to refer.
