Help for Households

Cost of Living Hub

The Mayor of London has launched a new Cost of Living Hub for Londoners facing financial hardship, as a result of spiralling inflation, increases in National Insurance and Council Tax, and the lifting of the energy price cap. The hub helps Londoners access information, support and advice about claiming benefits, dealing with debt, financial management and mental health support. To explore the hub, please visit here.

Citizens Advice

If you don’t have enough to live on, you might be able to get help from the government or your local council to afford essentials like bills and food. This includes the Household Support Fund and Cost of Living Payments. More info here.

Local Council

Check what help you can get from your local council 

Your local council might help you pay for things like: 

  • your energy and water bills 

  • food 

  • essential items – for example, clothes or an oven 

This help is known as ‘welfare assistance’ or the ‘Household Support Fund’.  Each council runs their own scheme. The help they offer and who can get it varies. Find your local council here.

Mental Health and Money Advice 

Cost-of-living crisis and your mental health – We know that many people are feeling the strain as the cost of living continues to increase.
