The HR team is made of several functions, some of whom have more standard days than others. HR days can be variable, because the role of HR is to support the wider organisation and respond to their needs… and this can change daily.
The functions in HR are:
Talent Acquisition is what we call our team who look after recruitment which includes advertising roles, organising interviews and managing the offer process. They also liaise with payroll to make sure new starters are paid, manage the vetting process including references, qualifications, right to work in the UK and DBS checks.
The advisory team support colleagues and managers with advice and guidance around staff issues such as performance, attendance and anything HR policy related. One of the members of this team is also responsible for coordinating and processing payroll.
We also have a data lead who looks at trends related to our people practices. They provide the organisation with information that helps us improve our ways of working such as exit interview analysis and is also responsible for managing our HR database called HR Hub.
Our administrator distributes work that comes into our HR inbox to relevant team members and also looks after booking training and development – offering advice in this area, coordinating inductions, and reviewing the quality of our training providers.
All of the functions are overseen by a Head of HR and HR Manager, who support the team and has responsibility for senior management engagement, significant HR projects, taking part in Senior Management Team activities such as facilitating internal organisation-wide training and managing external relationships.
The team is also concerned with employee welfare, engaging with positive employee stories, reflecting continuous improvement and making sure we have inclusive practices throughout our work.
