Emily Florence Hutchings

Emily

After graduating with a BA in Performing Arts (First Class Hons), her career began using her creativity and interpersonal skills to teach English and Drama to disadvantaged adults and children. Emily is a teacher as trained by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, an actress, and campaigner against domestic violence – regularly working on projects with the press and a variety of organisations in order to raise awareness. She is now currently studying a Masters in Applied Theatre: Drama in Educational, Community, and Social Contexts at Goldsmiths University College. Her goal is to set up a social enterprise which facilitates theatre and script-based workshops with people who have gone through abusive relationships and/or the criminal and civil justice system, and with young people in schools and other settings in order to explore developing healthy relationships. Having had personal experience of abuse and benefited from many of Women’s Aid services, she is thrilled to be an Ambassador for Solace and to have joined the Board of Trustees – and very enjoys using her direct experience to improve and implement services for others, so as to empower more women to be in the relationships they deserve. She has sat on the Services Subcommittee for nearly three years and will be moving to the Business Development Committee to continue to support Solace’s fostering of relationships and connections in our wider community.
