What is your role with Solace?
I previously worked as a Refuge Worker in Haringey, now I am an Employment and Support Manager for Haringey Floating Support.
What do you enjoy about your role?
I love working with women. I like to see their whole journey from when they come to us needing support and how they take control of their lives again and become empowered.
I love when women come to the end of their support and made so much noticeable change. To be a small part of the journey is so rewarding. I love seeing how Solace has grown from such a small organisation into something much bigger, providing lots of different support services.
Can you tell me about one of the most memorable days/experiences you have had?
I worked with a service user who had a history of her children being removed due to living in an abusive environment. When she came to Solace, she was pregnant and was scared that her child would be taken away. We supported her in the best way we could and engaged with social services and she took on board the opportunities she was offered which meant she was able to keep her child and move out of the refuge. She got married and got a new home with a new partner. It was one of our success stories.
Can you describe Solace in 3 words?
Caring
Knowledgeable
Strong
If you had one wish for women and girls for the next 50 years, what would you ask for?
My one wish for women and girls is for them to live a life free from abuse.
