Solace statement on proposed strike action

Solace has been made aware that staff from our Tower Hamlets service have voted to strike in relation to potential redundancies within this service.

Nahar Choudhury, Solace CEO said “Solace can evidence that there has been a 30% reduction in funding for the domestic abuse support services Solace provides in Tower Hamlets between 2023-24 and 2024-25.”

“A reduction in funding for our Tower Hamlets service has led to Solace having to take this difficult step. We hope to be able to resolve the dispute, and will continue to make efforts with staff, the union and the commissioner to do so. We believe it is in the best interests of our survivors and staff to find solutions.”

“Solace remains committed to supporting survivors in Tower Hamlets and across London, and our doors remain open. We will continue to advocate hard to maintain our services at a local level and call for sustainable funding for specialist domestic abuse charities at a national level.”
