Alexia Cheneau

Alexia is a healthcare professional working within the NHS and a survivor of domestic abuse. Her personal journey has shaped her passion for advocacy and her commitment to creating safer futures for women and girls.

After receiving support from Solace, Alexia felt strongly about giving back to the organisation that had helped her rebuild her life. In June 2024, she became part of Solace’s Media Ambassador Programme, using her voice to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding domestic abuse. Later that year, she joined the Psychologically Informed Framework group, contributing to the development of a more reflective, compassionate, and supportive culture within the organisation.

Her journey within Solace continued when she joined the Shadow Board in 2024, a group designed to ensure that lived experience is central to decision-making. In June 2025, she was appointed Chair of the Shadow Board, where, together with the other members, she plays a key role in shaping organisational strategy and amplifying the voices of survivors.

Alexia is deeply committed to advocating for the rights of women and girls. She is open about sharing her own experience of domestic abuse, believing that survivors should not be defined by their past, nor feel shame for what they have endured. Instead, she uses her story to empower others, showing that recovery and growth are possible.

Today, Alexia is thriving both personally and professionally. Thanks to the support of Solace, she has been able to rebuild her confidence, progress in her NHS career, and return to university after being forced to pause her studies during her experience of abuse.
